Manly-Warringah’s Travelling Supporters (MWTS)
Here is some useful information for those travelling to the Sea Eagles V Canberra Raiders game on Saturday April 4th. 2015
Albury is located approximately 569Km from Brookvale Oval so even though it is a “home game” there are a bit more logistics involved for members and supporters than for a regular Saturday night game at the Fortress.
Getting there…
Some are driving - but a lot are flying – We’ll leave it up to you how you get there and when.
www.webjet.com.au will give you a good idea as to who flies there and associated cost (but a tip – we book direct with the airline website as it is often cheaper than going via the webjet site…)
We’ve had feedback that there are quite a few making a weekend of it (it’s Easter) so see below info on the weekand as things stand so far.
Accomodation
http://www.alburywodongaaustralia.com.au/ offers some good information about the area, ideas on things to do and also accommodation as does www.tripadvisor.com.au (which also gives you feedback from travellers and even allows you to review the rates on offer at a property with a number of booking sites)
As usual, we’ve had a word with the locals and Alan at the Meramie Motor Inn (see here) gets a big tick and is offering a rate of $127 per twin/double room (normal rate is at least $140 for Easter) for any of our group staying 2 or more nights – this includes free wi-fi and continental type breakfast (tea/coffee toast etc)
(Point to note with these guys are that they are very close to the Commercial Club which is where the MWTS will be based for a Friday “meet and greet” and a pre-game function on the Saturday)
You’ll need to call them on 02 6021 8100 and mention you are with the Manly Sea Eagles group to get the discount when you book.
Another option to consider (albeit there are only limited rooms that have been reserved for the group so it is a first come first served basis until they have been taken) is the Golf Resort linked to the Commercial Club (who are the major sponsors of the local RL side the Albury Thunder)

The ground has a very limited capacity compared to other grounds we’re used to playing at so it’s likely to be a sell-out.
It is advised to pre-purchase tickets rather than wait to purchase at the ground.
Note the Grandstand option has limited availability and although tickets are numbered seats are not reserved (so “first in best dressed” as to where you sit when you get to the ground)
However – we have made arrangements with the local organiser to “rope off” a special VIP MWTS area for travelling supporters so if you plan to buy (or already have) a ticket in this area then do so and we’ll update you soon on how to register to use your ticket to secure a seat in this area?
Social Events
Friday night (Good Friday) means that some venues will be closed or offering limited hours.
We are pleased to announce that the Commercial Club ( See here ) are keen to host our group so we’ll run a “meet and greet” gathering from 7pm on the Friday evening and the club have supplied the “Waratah Room” for our group as a base.
All are welcome and admission is free.
There will be a pay bar, the room is close to the a bistro so you can purchase meals at a reasonable price - Plus, We have arranged a special guest (Clue: They are a key weapon in the success of Sea Eagles players) to attend to give an informal chat and run a bit of a Q & A for members and fans.
For those that wish to “kick on” the club has a number of options available including live entertainment, pokies, late bar etc.
Pre-game Function (Saturday 4th April)
Prior to the game you are invited to join the MWTS in the Waratah Room at the Commercial Club Albury (61 Dean St Albury Ph: 02 6057 2000)
This area has been reserved especially for our group.
The venue will be open before the game on Saturday from 1.30pm – 3.30pm
There will be bistro buffet food (around $16 per head) and pay bar drink options available and entry to the function is only $5 (donation to the MWRLFC)
We’ll also have a series of raffles and hopefully some special guests – this will be a great way to meet other supporters who have travelled to game and help prepare for the big game.
